Investigation 4: Coordination, Part 4: Choosing Your Own Investigation

Lesson Summary
Students select a topic from their study of bones, joints, muscles, stimulus/response to investigate in greater depth. The results of their project are shred with the rest of the class in a formal presentation.
Teacher Background
Students will need to apply all concepts dealing with human body in this unit. Teacher needs to discuss the inquiry process with students and check for understanding of what is a good researchable question.
Set-up/Management Tips
- Allow 1-2 weeks of class time for students to plan, conduct, and present their investigations.
- Teacher will need to guide students in choosing appropriate topics.
- The conclusion of the unit is a good time to invite guest speakers. (i.e. physical therapists, nurses, doctors, sports medical professionals, etc.)
