Habitats

Learning Experience 9:  Adapting to Habitats, Session Number:  9

Lesson Summary

Students discuss the structures and behaviors of organisms and how these factors may be related to habitat.  They do this by closely observing their minibeasts. Students are looking for structures and characteristics of their minibeasts that help it meet its needs in its habitat.  Students complete the Science Notebook Page on "Adapting to Habitats."  Students release their minibeasts.

Teacher Background

Students will learn that the structures and characteristics they determined help their minibeast meet its need are called adaptations.  Students will discuss other organism adaptations they are familiar with and how those adaptations help organisms meet their needs in their habitats as well.
