Habitats

Learning Experience 6: Minibeasts in the School Yard- What?  Where?  Why? Session 1

Lesson Summary

Students predict which parts of the school yard would make the best home for living things.  They use their hoops to observe several areas and record their finding.  They then compare the results and verify their predictions about where the best habitats might be.

Teacher Background

You’ll want students to explore several different places in the school yard.  The habitats with many living things will have light, water, space, shelter, and food available.   The habitats with very few or no living things might be missing one or more of the basic needs.

Set-up/Management Tips
