Balls and Ramps

Learning Experience1: Introducing Balls
Number of Sessions: 1-2

Lesson Summary

Children begin by thinking about all the different kinds of balls they are familiar with.  They discuss similarities and differences, act out some of the movements of balls and play catch with some ‘pretend’ balls.

Teacher Background

This learning experience is designed to encourage children to draw on their own experiences.  It will provide you with a sense of what they know and what they are familiar with.

Set-up/Management Tips

  • You will need a large space for this learning experience.
  • Copy Letter to Family and Home-School worksheet.
  • Prepare chart for learning experience. (Page 11)
  • Provide science notebook for each child.
