Through various tests, students discover and identify the different properties of sand, clay, humus and garden soil. They apply their new knowledge to investigate a "mystery" soil and discover its composition. In examining local soil samples they learn about soil components and the way plants grow in soil. Pilot teachers were amazed at the applications students made to their every day lives of the concepts they learned.
