Job Summary:

Performs and monitors the daily functions and operations of the Substitute Employee Management System (SEMS).  Trains and assists clients with systems operations and applications.  Provides administrative and technical support to program and district personnel. 

Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate.
  2. Six months of experience in computer operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitors overall effectiveness of the program.
  2. Operates computer system and associated peripherals including, but not limited to, procedural operations, diagnosis of equipment errors, monitoring repair needs and recommending upgrades or replacements as needed.
  3. Operates system software for database management, report printing, backups, software upgrades, troubleshooting, and communication with software company.
  4. Trains substitutes and LEA staff on the use of the system; distributes training materials; provides “help desk” assistance.
  5. Prepares system correspondence and materials, collects records required for system operations, and maintains accurate and timely system records and confidential files.
  6. Reports and submits recommendations to SEMS committee on policy, budget and long-range planning, which includes preparing meeting agendas, minutes, system reports.
  7. Monitors the reported performance of substitute teachers and refers to SEMS committee as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and maintains proper and adequate records and documentation in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  2. Participates in projects, committees or activities to support the mission of the program, Technology Center and Agency.
  3. Participates in staff development and professional growth activities.
  4. Performs related clerical and technical duties.
  5. As directed, schedules and oversees the work of temporary help during peak times.
  6. Orders and maintains materials and supplies.
  7. Performs other such duties as may be assigned.

  8. Ability to process, categorize and file information and forms in accordance with Agency procedures.
  9. Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence, and apply appropriate mathematical concepts.
  10. Ability to use and integrate technology appropriately in daily work which includes, but is not limited to, efficient operation of telephone and voice mail systems and application of basic computer skills to effectively use e-mail, internet and word processing.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can’t always be anticipated.
  2. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate office equipment needed to complete responsibilities including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, copy machines, fax machines.
