Job Summary:
Provides clients with high quality printing and bindery services. Performs leadership duties in the printing/bindery area and acts as department expert on at least one piece of printing equipment.

Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate
  2. Two year printing degree or three years of printing experience.
  3. Demonstrated mechanical ability.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prints high quality, close register printing requests on a variety of paper stocks.
  2. Performs bindery services as needed.
  3. Maintains acceptable quality control on all materials produced in the department.
  4. Performs routine maintenance on all printing/bindery equipment.
  5. Troubleshoots problems with equipment and places service call if needed.
  6. Assists clients with production information and services offered in printing.
  7. Keeps print shop work areas well organized, including appropriate storage of chemicals.
  8. Meets deadlines or works with supervisor or client to establish new deadline.
  9. Records required information and any changes made to job on job ticket.
  10. Prepares jobs for shipping and delivers to designated area(s) in the building.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Keeps accurate inventory of printing/bindery supplies.
  2. Provides training to other employees on the operation of printing/bindery equipment.
  3. Assists in scheduling of jobs for the department.
  4. Provides input to supervisor on training and equipment needs of the program.
  5. Develops and maintains proper and adequate records and documentation in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  6. Provides backup support for other operators in the printing area.
  7. Participates in projects, committees or activities to support the mission of the program, unit and Agency.
  8. Participates in staff development and professional growth activities.
  9. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

  1. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships.
  2. Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  3. Working knowledge of all graphics and printing services.
  4. Working knowledge of all printing and bindery equipment utilized in the printing area.
  5. Working knowledge of services utilized by the program from third party vendors.
  6. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to staff and public.
  7. Ability to process, categorize and file information and forms in accordance with Agency procedure.
  8. Ability to handle information in a confidential manner.
  9. Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence, and apply appropriate mathematical concepts.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Normal, routine levels of bending, climbing, carrying, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking.
  2. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  3. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate printing/bindery and office equipment needed to complete responsibilities including, but not limited to, offset press, high speed copier, folder,cutter, stitcher, binding system, computer, telephone.
