Mandatory Training
AEA PD Online offers mandatory and non-mandatory training for educational staff across Iowa. This includes training for mandatory reporters of suspected child and dependent adult abuse, medication administration, right to know/hazardous chemicals, asbestos awareness, bloodborne pathogens, lockout/tagout, Section 504, Overview of State Requirements Regarding Seclusion and Restraint: Chapter 103, and Ethics for Iowa Educators.
Online Training Link
Use of this system is intended for employees of Iowa Area Education Agencies, employees of the public and private school districts they support, and other authorized users. Unauthorized use or distribution of passwords is prohibited. Access to these trainings is available to all employees in participating districts for no cost with the exception of Mandatory Reporter training. Mandatory Reporter training must be updated by licensed employees and by permissive reporters every five years. This training now carries a $25 per user fee.
If you have used this system since September, 2009, you have created a username and password. If you donot recall these, contact your district system administrator for online training or the Grant Wood AEA PD office.
Individual course passwords are no longer used. A district password is available from your district system administrator.
If you are not employed at a school served by Grant Wood AEA there is a $25 charge. Use the following link to register directly with AEA PD Online and choose "Pay Customer" when you register.
Certificates
Upon successful completion of the Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training three certificates will be mailed to the address you provided. One copy is for your personal records, one for your place of employment and one to submit when you renew your license.
For all other training programs you can print your own certificate of completion. Certificates for these programs will not be mailed to you.
Level I Investigator
Iowa Code Chapter 280, Section 280.17, requires all public and non-public schools to annually appoint a Level I investigator and alternate(s) to investigate complaints regarding abuse of students by school employees and volunteers. Investigators and alternates are to be trained upon initial appointment and then once every five years thereafter. The training is to familiarize designated individuals with their roles, rules, procedures and required timelines for action. Training is scheduled for the first Monday in October.
