Students to showcase STEM learning

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning will be the focus of the Corridor STEM Initiative Afterschool Grant Program Showcase planned for Thursday, May 19, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Iowa Memorial Union, Second Floor Ballroom, Room 243, in Iowa City.

The showcase will feature presentations by students from the following schools demonstrating their STEM learning: Clear Creek Amana Middle School, Clear Creek Amana School District; Lemme and Grant Wood Elementaries in the Iowa City School District; Lincoln Elementary, Washington School District; Mount Vernon Middle School, Mount Vernon School District; Prairie Creek Intermediate and Prairie Point Middle School, College Community School District; Hiawatha Elementary, Cedar Rapids School District, Vernon Middle School, Marion Independent School District; and HLV Elementary, HLV School District.

Brief remarks will be delivered by Trace Pickering, Coordinator of Innovation and Organizational Effectiveness, Grant Wood Area Education Agency; and Dick Whitehead, Superintendent, College Community Schools. The keynote speaker will be Jenny Becker, Sr. Community Relations Specialist, Rockwell Collins.
