Autism expert Scott Bellini to present at Grant Wood AEA on Aug. 4
|
This workshop will provide an overview of a social skill instructional model developed by Dr. Scott Bellini.
The workshop integrates research on social-emotional functioning with effective strategies for teaching social skills to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The five-step model provides a systematic and comprehensive framework to guide parents and practitioners in the development and
implementation of social skills programming.
Dr. Bellini is currently the research and clinical director of the Indiana Resource Center for Autism at Indiana University, an assistant professor with the IUB School Psychology program, and the director of the Social Skills Research Center. He is also the author of the book “Building Social Relationships,” which was recognized as the 2007 Literary Work of the Year by the Autism Society of America. He has spoken nationally on the topic of social emotional functioning for children with ASD, particularly social skills programming and video self-modeling.
