Iowa’s Area Education Agencies (AEAs) are providing eight dynamic, up-to-the-minute online reference resources to all Iowa accredited schools for the 2006-2007 school year.

Through Iowa AEA Online (www.iowaaeaonline.org), Iowa K-12 students have free access at school and at home (Internet access required) 24 hours a day, seven days a week to magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, videos, photos, clipart, and software training materials. Plus literary writings, dic­tionaries, maps, almanacs, biographies, web links, government documents, historic documents, infor­mation on weather, health, careers, business and more.

Two new resources targeted for middle and high school students as well as a resource for early learners were added this year. SIRS Researcher features thousands of relevant full-text articles and analysis on today’s hottest and most contro­versial social, scientific, health, historic, economic, political, and global issues.

The World Book Research Libraries have been specially developed to provide students with broad access to primary source material. The collection offers an extensive array of documents in history, politics and government, philosophy, religion, science, and the social sciences.

Recently added to World Book Online was World Book Kids, which is designed for PreK-2 grade students. World Book Kids is an online product using World Book’s award-winning Student Discovery Encyclopedia.

In addition to providing up-to-date technology resources for students and teachers, Iowa AEA Online provides cost-effective resources for schools, as well as equity of information access for students.
