The Collections
Assistive Technology

A collection of specialized materials selected to assist students in a variety of ways. Materials may be reserved for specific dates.
Boxed Books/Multiples/Guided Reading
- Boxed books are sets of different titles on a variety of topics.
- Multiples are classroom sets of the same title.
- Guided reading contains leveled sets of six copies of six titles.
- Materials in these collections may be reserved for specific dates.
- This collection also contains materials from the IASL (Iowa Association of School Libraries) awards.
Classroom Materials

A collection of curriculum-related resources for teachers to use in the classroom to meet individual needs of students. This is a browsing collection and materials are placed on hold.
DVD and Video Collection

A collection of instructional materials in both DVD and video format. DVDs often have enhanced features on the program. Materials may be reserved for specific dates.
Professional Collection
- An integrated collection of print and nonprint materials. This is a browsing collection and materials are placed on hold.
Sensory Stimulation
-
A collection of specialized materials for specialized needs. Materials may be reserved for specific dates.
Student Book Collection
- A collection of books for students that is a source of curriculum support with many titles for the VAST curriculum. Materials may be reserved for specific dates.
An item is reservable if it can be scheduled and confirmed for specific dates. Collections that contain reservable items include: Assistive technology; Boxed Books/Multiples/Guided Reading; DVD & video; sensory stimulation and the student book collection. Items from the classroom collection and professional collection are considered non-reserve because they can not be reserved for specific dates. These materials are placed on hold and if they are available, they are sent on the date requested.

Late Fees
There is a $1.00 a day fine per item for late videos, laserdiscs, DVDs and professional nonprint items. Items must be returned on the due date by 4:15 to avoid a late charge. Schools are billed on a monthly basis.

Materials may be ordered one of three ways:

- Browse our complete online catalog and select from new materials that are added on a weekly basis. The catalog is available 24/7.

Confirmations - Electronic confirmations are sent for every transaction on a daily basis.
Extensions and Cancellations
Extensions Requests for extensions may be made electronically by going to the Options Menu located on the first page of the Online Catalog. You will need your six-digit client code and password to log in to access the screen that will allow you to send an e-mail asking for an extension. Once you have requested an extension, you will need to check your confirmation electronically or view your bookings online to make sure the item has been extended. You may also call customer service at 1-800-642-4107 or (319)-399-6754.
Cancellations Items may be cancelled directly online using the cancellation function also located on the Options Menu or by calling Customer Service at 1-800-642-4107 or (319) 399-6754.
