Teaching for Mathematics Understanding - Secondary
|
Teaching for Mathematics Understanding-SECONDARY is a three-year opportunity (beginning in fall 2007) to take what is known from research and put it into practice to improve 6-12 student achievement. Schools who participate will follow the Iowa “Every Student Counts” project four fundamental research-based components: Teaching for Understanding, Problem-Based Instructional Tasks, Meaningful Distributed Practice and Assessment for Learning. Participating districts will also build learning communities that are engaged in the study of mathematics, mathematics instruction, and student achievement in mathematics through effective implementation of Iowa’s Professional Development Model.
