Economics: An Exciting Entrepreneur Experience
Each group of 3 students create a business plan using Hyperstudio.
Students check out web-sites both to review economic terms and
to assist in the design of their business. Each group then puts
together their economic plan explaining their strategies for supply
and demand, advertising, and finance issues.

A Budgeting WebQuest for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades where students
research, budget, use a spreadsheet, and design a slide show.
What Will I Be When
I Get Big This project allow students to develop a personal
vision statement of what they would like to be when they grow
up with the help and guidence of Stephen R. Covey and the help
of the Franklin Covey Corporation. They will research people who
they would like to model, learn about the characteristics of their
heros, and decide what skills they will have to develop during
school to be like their heros. Finally students will make a personal
vision statement about their lives. This is not intended to be
a final pattern for their lives, but a working plan that they
can use throughout their education experience to help students
develop lifetime skills that interest them.
Where in the World
is Peggy Lee? A webquest for 3-5 Grade. To understand more
about careers that interest the student, students will need to
read and explore information. They select a career they might
like to have someday. Students: read and collect information from
at least three different resources about the career selection;
keep a research journal to record the date and time of their work,
what web sites visited and interesting new information found;
and create a presentation for the class.

Employment Applications: Your First Impression
This Web Quest will allow students to have practical experience
in completing sample employment applications. It gives students
experience in following written directions as well as providing
specific written information. Students will see different layouts
of applications as well as different degrees of difficulty in
applications. Students will be exposed to the variety of application
vocabulary which needs to be understood for completion of an application.
Exploring Cartooning
The activities in this web quest are designed to help students
develop an appreciation and awareness for the cartooning field.
During the quest they will search related websites to: identify
what is needed to get started in cartooning; examine the do's
and don'ts of preparing cartoons for publication; explore the
various cartoon types used by cartoonists today; identify cartooning
schools and programs that would further a career in the field;
and create a cartoon of their own.
Future Quest
This project is designed to be a collaborative classroom activity
during which all students in the class learn about Internet resources
that are available to help them in college and career planning.
Job Hunting
Students have been selected to become a member of the Poteet ISD
Career Discovery Committee. This committee will compile
the necessary steps in finding a career and matching this
career to the student's interest and goals.
Living It Up: A
Webquest for Seniors in LIFE This lesson is used as a part
of the unit on relationships, dating, and preparation for marriage.
It is to assist students analyze their thoughts and feelings about
the issue of cohabitation. They will be required to find
hard data and research to support their position on this issue.
Making Ends Meet: A Comprehensive Budgeting
Project for the Secondary Classroom Students will get a job
in a new state, buy a car, find a place to live, develop and analyze
a monthly budget and present their experiences to their peers.
Personal Budget Webquest This lesson has
two purposes. The first and apparent purpose is to have students
set up a budget, with the intention that they will practice using
percents. The second objective is a hidden one; namely to make
students aware of the cost of their dreams, and the education
needed to achieve them.
The Rising Cost of College Where do students
plan on going to college and how do they and their family intend
to fund college expenses?
Target the Perfect
Career Students are a member of the Teenage Career Task Force
that compiles a directory of needs for career assessment.
This directory will list the necessary steps for any teenager
to take to successfully reach their career goals. The task
is to determine the necessary steps to choose a career and successfully
measure it against a student's interests and educational goals.
Understanding the Employment Process This
WebQuest will provide students with a better understanding of
resumes, cover letters, and job interviews. They will be guided
to develop a resume and cover letter that represent them well
to a prospective employer. They will also have a clear understanding
of what to do before, during, and after your job interview.
Web Page Design:
A Web Quest designed for a high school Desktop Publishing Course
This lesson was developed as a unit within the course,
Desktop Publishing, taught in the Business Department at Independence
High School. It was designed to give students a chance to evaluate
professionally developed web sites and an opportunity to design
a web page for a local business.
What do you plan
to do with your life? To help students answer these questions
students will: identify interest areas; explore career areas;
identify responsibilities of the job; talk to people in the career
area(s) that interest them; and design their high school schedule
that fits the requirements of the career(s) chosen.
When I Grow Up...A Career Exploration
Web Quest designed for middle and secondary students that focuses
on resumes and interviews.
When Will I Ever
Use This? (Math and Legal Profession) Students are part of
a team from the public defenders office and have been appointed
to defend the various math topics that they will be studying throughout
this year.
Who is the Right
Person for the Job? A resume and interview webquest.
Wood Selection/Cost
Analysis for Open Shop (Middle School) A student and assigned
partner will each select a wood product that they desire to produce.
After the instructor approves the product they will both do the
following: Determine the type of wood to be used. Determine the
quanity of wood to be used. Calculate the total cost of the wood.
Complete the above for two additional types of wood Upon successfully
determining the above information, they will obtain the materials
from the instructor and start production of the product.

interests, check out colleges and universities that offer training
in those careers, and check out the future prospects for those
careers.
